This is a nice link to a printable PDF file showing the GMRS frequency chart and CTCSS / DCS Codes for accessing Repeaters.
This is a great site to help you build your own antenna. Using this 1/4 Wave Ground Plane Antenna Calculator
When buying an antenna this is good information, Understanding Antenna Gain and dBi. You can really increase your radios range, if you understand antenna principles.
Before wasting your money on all different types of antennas it best to see if you have a clear line-of-sight to what ever you're trying to reach. Using this site will help you know if there is any chance of success.
This is another Line of sight tool suggested to us from a user on the GMRSCandid. One Thanks goes to Mr.Watkins for sharing this information.

I'm not for wasting money and that sure sounds like a waste.
So, with that being said. If you don't have any friends in radio and you want to save your money. This is a free repeater listing site and would be a good starting point...
